MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541124461 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 10, 2025, for 'development of histoport-a novel slide tray station for improved workflow and slide safety in histopathology laboratories.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Kavitha P; Dr. Sridevi M; and Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides a mobile slide tray station ("Histoport") for use in histopathology laboratories. The station comprises a wheeled base, a vertical open-frame tower, and multiple compartments for holding slide trays. The station's key features include its dual-sided access design, allowing trays to be accessed from opposing sides, and its unique tray-holding mechanism, where compartments secure trays in a recessed or angled position to prevent accidental slipping or tipping. The system is intended for use with trays that feature built-in spacers, which prevent direct slide-to-slide contact, thereby eliminating the risk of chipping or abrasion of stained sections. The compact, mobile design of the Histoport improves laboratory workflow, enhances slide safety, prevents misplacement of samples during batch processing, and optimizes the use of workspace. It offers a comprehensive solution to the common problems of slide damage and inefficient handling in a laboratory setting."
