MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441013725 A) filed by Ramya M; Sneha R G; and Rashmika R Q, Karur, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 26, 2024, for 'development of biscuits by partial substitution of refined wheat flour with sunflower and pumpkin se.'

Inventor(s) include Ramya M; Rashmika R Q; Reashma A; Thenmalar S; Hariharan V; Shyam Kumar R; Ayaz Ahamed S; and Vimal P.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Sunflower seed and pumpkin seed are found to be nutritious in means of healthy fat, vitamins and mineral. The potential use of these oil seed will impact a healthier change to the people's lifestyle. The purpose of the study is to investigate that sunflower and pumpkin seeds influence the proximate, physicochemical, and sensory properties of wheat biscuits. The Asteraceae family of plants includes the sunflowers which is rich in proteins. Sunflower has essential mineral called selenium, which is used to treat cancer. Pumpkin seeds are commonly referred as a nutritional powerhouse because of their high zinc and phosphorus content that can fight against inflammation and prostate cancer. This wheat biscuits with sunflower seed and pumpkin seed will be very useful In combating the micronutrients deficiency problem in population of all age groups.
