MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511133141 A) filed by Isf College Of Pharmacy, Moga, Punjab, on Dec. 29, 2025, for 'development and characterization of enteric coated alginate hydrogel beads loaded with resveratrol and noscapine for colitis management.'
Inventor(s) include Yukta Garg; Nandini Sharma; Dr. Amandeep Singh; Sachin Yadav; Daksh Thakur; Dr. Manish Kumar; Dr. R. K. Narang; and Dr. Rajveer Singh.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This study developed enteric-coated alginate hydrogel beads co-loaded with resveratrol and noscapine for targeted ulcerative colitis therapy. Beads were prepared by ionotropic gelation, optimized via QbD, and coated with Eudragit S100 for pH-dependent colonic release. Characterization confirmed suitable size (1.4-1.8 mm), high entrapment efficiency (70-75%), and no drug-polymer incompatibility (FTIR, DSC). In vitro, uncoated beads showed 20% drug release within 4 h, while coated beads restricted release ( 20% in 5 h) and achieved sustained colonic release. Kinetic modeling indicated zero-order release for uncoated and Korsmeyer-Peppas fitting for coated formulations. Overall, the enteric-coated beads demonstrated effective colon targeting and strong potential in ulcerative colitis management."
