MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517121201 A) filed by The Trustees Of The University Of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, on Dec. 3, 2025, for 'detection of tumor-derived nucleic acids using red blood cells.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Described herein are methods of diagnosing a cancer in a subject. The method includes contacting a red blood cell-containing sample from the subject with a reagent capable of detecting a tumor-associated molecule in the sample; and diagnosing the subject with a tumor when the tumor-associated molecule is detected in the sample. In some embodiments, suitable samples are less than 10 L."
