MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517080969 A) filed by Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (PUBL), Stockholm, on Aug. 26, for 'detecting a denial-of-service (dos) attack on an upstream device based on traffic characteristics.'
Inventor(s) include Kover, Janos; Abdelrazek, Loay; and Ullah, Ikram.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "It is provided a method for detecting a denial-of-service, DoS, attack on an upstream device. The method is performed in a radio network node. The method comprises: obtaining traffic characteristics on communication between a user equipment, UE, and the radio network node, wherein the traffic characteristics are obtained for a protocol in a protocol stack for radio access network, RAN, communication between the UE and the radio network node; and determining that a DoS attack is in progress towards the upstream device based on the traffic characteristics, wherein the upstream device is provided upstream from the radio network node."
The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 27, 2023, under International application No.PCT/SE2023/050072.
