MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541113833 A) filed by Dr. S. Gnanasekaran; V. Venkatesh; D. Asokan; P. Athul; and M. Sanjai, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Nov. 19, 2025, for 'designing of hybrid drone for air, water and land mobility.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. S. Gnanasekaran; V. Venkatesh; D. Asokan; P. Athul; and M. Sanjai.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This project details the creation of a flexible F450 amphibious drone. It can fly in the air, move on the ground next to travel on water. This drone can be modified for any specific need like survelliance, search and rescue, sample study etc. The drone uses a quadcopter system for aerial navigation plus a four-wheeled rover. The rover moves via separate motors through an Arduino controller. This shows its adapt ability across different landscapes. For buoyancy a specific floatation structure was put in place. It permits movement on the water surface with the rover wheels. Fusion 360 served to model and refine the whole construction. This optimized the design for steadiness plus adjustment to diverse terrains. Some difficulties exist even with this effective combination of air and surface movement. Smooth changes between environments, particularly from water into the air, need work. Further drawbacks are diminished flight height caused by the extra mass and resistance from the floatation parts. Less ground height impacts off-road ability. Future endeavors could look at improving hydrodynamic features."
