MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641016117 A) filed by Vel Tech Multi Tech Dr Rangarajan Dr Sakunthala Engineering College; Dr. M. Selvam; Mrs. Dhivya V; Mr. Kameshwaran KV; Mr. Suhas A; and Ms. Dharshini, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 13, for 'design & fabrication of wheel assisted hybrid drone.'

The invention enables efficient switching between ground and aerial modes, thereby improving time efficiency, reducing manual labor, and enhancing operational accuracy during navigation and task execution. Ground mode operation allows extended travel with lower energy consumption, while aerial mode enables obstacle avoidance and rapid deployment. The hybrid configuration offers ease of mobility, versatility across varied terrains, improved operator safety by minimizing human intervention, and overall cost efficiency by reducing energy usage and operational resources. The invention is suitable for surveillance, inspection, delivery, rescue and multi-terrain robotic applications."
