Selvam; Mrs. Dhivya V; Mr. Kameshwaran KV; Mr. Suhas A; and Ms. Dharshini, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 13, for 'design & fabrication of wheel assisted hybrid drone.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a wheel-assisted hybrid drone designed to provide multi-functional operation by combining aerial flight capability with ground-based mobility. The system comprises a lightweight structural frame, aerial propulsion units, wheel-driven ground mobility mechanisms, a centralized control unit, and a shared power supply. The invention enables efficient switching between ground and aerial modes, thereby improving time efficiency, reducing manual labor, and enhancing operational accuracy during navigation and task execution. Ground mode operation allows extended travel with lower energy consumption, while aerial mode enables obstacle avoidance and rapid deployment. The hybrid configuration offers ease of mobility, versatility across varied terrains, improved operator safety by minimizing human intervention, and overall cost efficiency by reducing energy usage and operational resources. The invention is suitable for surveillance, inspection, delivery, rescue and multi-terrain robotic applications."
