MUMBAI, India, Dec. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511101911 A) filed by Government Institute Of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Oct. 23, for 'dental probing system with detachable probing element and applicator attachment.'

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a dental probing system comprising a handle comprising a proximal end and a distal end; a first connecting shank positioned at the distal end of the handle; a probing element detachably mounted to the first connecting shank, the probing element fabricated from a wooden material and dimensioned to exhibit a cross-sectional thickness in a range from 0.4 millimetres (mm) to 0.8 mm, wherein calibrated indicia are formed along a length of the probing element to demarcate depth values between 1 mm and 15 mm, and wherein visually distinguishable regions are applied at intervals to facilitate visual referencing during measurement procedures; a second connecting shank also positioned at the proximal end of the handle; and an applicator attachment detachably secured to the second connecting shank, the applicator attachment comprising an absorbent cotton body adapted for contact-based cleaning within an oral cavity."
