MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202547096441 A) filed by Qualcomm Incorporated, San Diego, on Oct. 7, for 'demodulation reference signal port combinations in accordance with a capability of a user equipment associated with 8-layer downlink multiple input multiple output communications.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. Various aspects relate generally to multiple input multiple output (MIMO) communications. Some aspects more specifically relate to signalling of demodulation reference signal (DMRS) port combinations in accordance with a capability of a UE associated with 8-layer downlink MIMO communications. In some examples, a UE may transmit a capability communication that indicates whether the UE supports 8-layer MIMO communications and may receive, in association with the capability communication, an indication of one or more DMRS port combinations to be used for receiving downlink communications."
