MUMBAI, India, June 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517041697 A) filed by Encapsys, Llc, Appleton, U.S.A., on April 30, for 'degradable delivery particles made from redox-initiator-modified chitosan.'
Inventor(s) include Feng, Linsheng; Bardsley, Travis Ian; Kochel, Meagan Marie; Malagon Gomez, Sonia Marcela; Fernandez-Prieto, Susana; Lebron, Ariel; Tahon, Cedric Marc; Collu, Mattia; and Smets, Johan.
The application for the patent was published on June 13, under issue no. 24/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A population of core-shell delivery particles comprising a benefit agent core material and a shell encapsulating the core material is described, along with a process for forming such delivery particles and articles of manufacture. The shell is the reaction product of a crosslinking agent and a modified chitosan. Chitosan is treated with a mixture of an acid and redox initiator comprising a persulfate or peroxide, which results in an enhanced polymeric shell. The delivery particle of the invention has improved release characteristics, with enhanced degradation characteristics in OECD test method 301B."
The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 29, 2023, under International application No.PCT/US2023/081498.
