MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122834 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'deep learning system for autism spectrum disorder detection using brain imaging.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Kauser Ahmed P; Paarth Panthri; and Ananya Priyadarshini.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a system for detecting Autism Spectrum Disorder using brain imaging. The system includes a data preprocessing module configured to receive MRI scan data of three-dimensional brain volumes and standardize the data by resizing volumes to uniform dimensions. The system includes a feature extraction module having pre-trained convolutional neural networks configured to extract features from the standardized MRI data. The system includes a classification module configured to receive extracted features and perform binary classification between Autism Spectrum Disorder subjects and control subjects. The preprocessing module normalizes intensity values to reduce scanner-related variability and applies Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization to enhance local contrast. The feature extraction module includes multiple pre-trained networks including ResNet, VGG, and InceptionV3 architectures. The system includes a data augmentation module configured to apply geometric transformations including rotations and flipping to expand dataset diversity."
