MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631027207 A) filed by Asansol Engineering College, Asansol, West Bengal, on March 9, for 'deep learning-based retinal vessel regeneration forecast and treatment recommendation system.'
Inventor(s) include Sumanta Karmakar; Dr. Sambit S Mondal; and Dr. Ashmi Chakraborty.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention describes a deep learning-based system for forecasting retinal vessel regeneration and recommending clinical treatments. The system employs a multi-modular architecture, including image acquisition, feature extraction via CNNs, and a temporal forecasting engine utilizing LSTM-CNN hybrids. By analyzing longitudinal retinal fundus images, the invention predicts future pathological states such as microaneurysm growth and neovascularization. The system generates a color-coded timeline visualization of disease progression and provides automated recommendations for laser therapy, anti-VEGF injections, or surgery based on computed risk scores. This predictive capability enables early intervention, particularly in tele-ophthalmology and rural screening environments, thereby reducing the risk of blindness in diabetic patients."
