MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202547096555 A) filed by Panasonic Intellectual Property Corporation Of America, Torrance, U.S.A., on Oct. 7, for 'decoding method, encoding method, decoding device, and encoding device.'

Inventor(s) include Ito Atsushi.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This decoding method comprises: receiving a bitstream including position information indicating a plurality of nodes constituting an octree structure, and first control information indicating whether or not a first surface of a first node included in the plurality of nodes has a first face vertex provided other than a plurality of first sides of the first surface (S301); and generating or not generating the first face vertex on the first surface according to the first control information (S302). Each of the plurality of nodes is a unit including a plurality of three-dimensional points. The first node includes a first centroid vertex and a plurality of first edge vertices that are used in a trisoup system. The first face vertex, the first centroid vertex, and the plurality of first edge vertices define a triangle in which the three-dimensional points in the first node are disposed. The first control information is provided with respect to a surface of the first node that satisfies a predetermined condition."

The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 07, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/008878.
