MUMBAI, India, Jan. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102487 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 24, 2025, for 'decentralized online voting system and a method thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A decentralized online voting system and a method thereof, comprises a blockchain network 101 configured to securely record votes in an immutable ledger, a plurality of user systems 102 configured to allow voters to cast votes electronically, and blockchain-based transaction modules 103 deployed on the blockchain network 101, the modules are configured to authenticate eligible voters, record votes in encrypted form, automatically tally votes without human intervention, and generate a transparent audit trail accessible to authorized parties, the system eliminates intermediaries and reduces the risk of human error or manipulation, the blockchain network 101 is implemented using an Ethereum platform or similar distributed ledger framework, the system further includes optional modules such as simulation modules to evaluate performance and biometric authentication modules to verify voter identity."
