MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441032032 A) filed by Netapp, Inc., San Jose, U.S.A., on April 23, 2024, for 'data exfiltration monitoring using hash values.'
Inventor(s) include Mesfin Dema; Muneem Shahriar; Jian Jian; Phani Srikanth Bhavani Sankar; Yogita Verma; and Arunkumar Gururajan.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 24, under issue no. 43/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The disclosure describes a data protection service that generates semantic descriptions of protected data volumes. The data protection service queries a monitoring service with the generated semantic descriptions. The monitoring service responds to the queries with indications of whether and data items on the dark web match the semantic descriptions. When a query receives a positive response from the monitoring service, the data protection service iteratively refines the semantic description and queries the monitoring service with the refined semantic descriptions until a breach is detected. Once a breach is detected, the data protection service initiates a mitigation action."
