MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621002732 A) filed by Agarwal Subhash Omkarmal, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Jan. 9, for 'dam-less and modular system for continuous electricity generation using naturally flowing water.'

Inventor(s) include Agarwal Subhash Omkarmal.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an environmentally sustainable, dam-less electricity generation system that utilizes the kinetic energy of naturally flowing water to generate continuous electrical power without disturbing ecological balance. The system operates directly in rivers, canals, and irrigation channels without requiring dams, reservoirs, water storage, or flow diversion structures. A horizontally oriented main rotor shaft is positioned transverse to the direction of water flow and is supported by vertically adjustable pillars anchored to the bed of the water body. A plurality of curved blades mounted on the rotor shaft interact with flowing water to convert horizontal kinetic energy into rotational mechanical energy. The vertical adjustment mechanism enables optimal positioning of the rotor shaft under varying water levels. The rotational energy is transmitted through a mechanical power transmission mechanism to an electrical generator mounted above the water level. The invention allows uninterrupted natural water flow, preserves sediment transport, permits free movement of aquatic life, and provides a cost-effective, scalable, and continuous renewable energy solution suitable for mountainous and hilly regions."
