According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a portable Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) staining unit, herein referred to as Cytostainmate, designed for rapid and reliable cytological processing in low-resource and bedside settings. The device is a compact cuboidal box equipped with embedded staining compartments for Haematoxylin & Eosin, Pap, and MGG stains, a slide rack for drying, and a multi-compartment drawer for consumables including syringes, cotton, gloves, slides, cover slips, and mounting media. To ensure biosafety, the unit integrates three color-coded waste bins: a white puncture-proof bin for sharps, a yellow bin for infectious waste, and a red bin for chemical/cytology waste. A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) card fixed inside the lid provides stepwise guidelines for users, minimizing rescue, error and improving workflow. Lightweight, portable, and spill- proof, Cytostainmate facilitates on-site staining and immediate reporting, offering an eco-friendly, cost-effective, safe, and efficient solution for cytology in peripheral health centres, outreach programs, and resource-constrained environments."
