MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517048644 A) filed by Lg Energy Solution, Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on May 20, for 'cylindrical battery cell, and battery pack and vehicle including same.'

Inventor(s) include Hwang, Dongsung; Shin, Hangsoo; Cho, Sungmin; Hong, Taerim; and Park, Jeongho.

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a cylindrical battery cell. A butt wall with an extended inner diameter is provided at an open end of the side wall portion of a battery can of the battery cell. A cap covering the open end includes a butt surface, which is in contact with the inner circumferential surface of the butt wall and press-fitted, and an electrode connection portion connected to an electrode tab of an electrode assembly accommodated in the battery can. The press-fitting depth of the cap with respect to the battery can is regulated by the electrode connection portion (41) of the cap (40) and the electrode tab of the electrode assembly. The butt surface and the butt wall are weld-bonded and thus electrically connected. The present invention provides a method for manufacturing the battery cell, a battery pack including the battery cell, and a vehicle including the battery cell."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 20, 2023, under International application No.PCT/KR2023/016424.
