MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441023329 A) filed by Dr. Hegde Shyamsunder, Bangalore, Tamil Nadu, on March 25, 2024, for 'cubic tin sulfide (sns)/reduced graphene oxide (rgo) nanocompositie as a material for electrochemica.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Hegde Shyamsunder.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Cubic tin sulfide (SnS)/Reduced graphene oxide material (RGO) nanocomposite as a for electrochemical detection of heavy metal ions in water The present invention relates to preparing a kind of cubic tin sulfide (SnS)/ reduced graphcne oxide (RGO) nanocomposite and further relates to the application of the composite material in electrochemical detection of heavy metal ions of Pb2+ in water. In particular, the nanocomposite exhibits the morphology ofwell dispersed cubic SnS nanopanicles preferably anchored on RGO sheets and wherein, the cubic SnS nanoparticles are of better crystallinity, more regular in particle size. The preparation method comprises the following steps: 8], powder by suspending in de-ionized and sonicating; SZ, preparing stable dispersion mixture of sulfur precursor and RGO by adding a sulfide ion (82') precursor to RGO suspension obtained in stepSl under constant stirring; exfoliate the RGO S3, prepare tin ion (Sn2*) precursor solution by dissolving stannous chloride dihydrate in calculated amount of glacial acetic acid and hydrochloric acid; S4, adding calculated amount triethenol amine (TEA) to the tin precursor solution prepared in step S3 under constant stirring; SS, sequentially adding calculated amount of ammonia solution (NI-13), stable dispersion solution prepared in step 82, to the solution prepared in step S4 and maintaining the temperature the resulting solution at least at 20 C for a fixed duration of time; and drying the product obtained in steps to finally prepare cubic SnS RGO nanocomposite of said morphology features. $6,0entn'fuging washing, A composite prepared by the method disclosed by the present invention shows low limit of detection and high sensitivity when applied as electrode material for the electrochemical detection of heavy metal ions, in particular, Pb2+ ion in water."
