MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421033514 A) filed by Genext Genomics Pvt. Ltd.; and Ankur Seeds Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur, Maharashtra, on April 26, 2024, for 'cry1ac variants and methods thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides modified nucleic acid molecules expressing mutant Cry1Ac proteins. The present disclosure also provides expression cassettes, vectors, host cells, 5 plants and seeds comprising the modified nucleic acid molecules. The plants and seeds comprising the modified nucleic acid molecules of the present disclosure show enhanced resistance to infections caused by pests such as Pectinophora, Helicoverpa, and Spodoptera. In particular, the plants and seeds comprising the modified nucleic acid molecules show enhanced resistance to Pectinophora pests that have otherwise developed resistance to Cry1Ac proteins that do not 10 contain the mutations described herein."
