A drive motor (6) coupled to a pinion-wheel (7) and rack (8) mechanism enables smooth vertical translation of the height-adjustable barrier (5) to restrict, deter, or control crowd movement. The barrier is remotely operable (10) enabling the operator to increase the height of the safety barrier (1) from a distance. The gusset plate support (4) and reinforcing cross bars (9) enhance structural rigidity and resistance to lateral forces. The cascading lock(12) allows multiple barriers to be mechanically linked to form a continuous, stable boundary."
