MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202414093074 A) filed by Ballisto Cricket Ltd., Edinburgh, U.K., on Nov. 28, 2024, for 'cricket bowling apparatus.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A cricket bowling apparatus for use in replicating spin bowling, comprising: a cricket ball comprising: a body having a centre; and a ridge, the ridge encircling the body on a plane that is offset from the centre of the body in a first direction; and a cricket ball launching device comprising: a cricket ball engaging arrangement configured to receive the cricket ball therein, impart a retaining force on the cricket ball when the cricket ball is mounted in the cricket ball launching device and release the cricket ball in a release direction substantially parallel to the plane of the ridge when an inertial force of the cricket ball exceeds the retaining force during movement of the cricket ball launching device with the cricket ball mounted therein."
