MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025467 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 28, 2024, for 'covering device for a pipe.'

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A covering device for a pipe comprises a cover body 1 made of plurality of metal plates 2 connected with each other by motorized hinged joints 3, a sensor module measures a diameter of the pipe to determine a location of the magnetic end plate on the body, a roller 4 carrying a spool of seal wrap attached on an inner surface of the cover body 1, plurality of motorized wheels 5 to move the body, a clamp 6 provided on the inner surface of the cover body 1, wherein when the sensing module detects a loose pipe joint under the cover body 1, and an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 7 detecting a presence of a human in vicinity of the pipe, a fire extinguisher unit 8 provided on the body having a storage tank having an extinguishing substance attached to a spray nozzle."
