MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073978 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept. 30, 2024, for 'cotton seeds extraction device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Saurabh Sharma; Dr. Shweta Pandey; and Rupal Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A cotton seeds extraction device comprises a housing 1 positioned on a ground surface and installed with a chamber to be stored with staple cotton, a touch enabled screen 2 is installed on the housing 1 for enabling a user to give input, a suction unit 3 paired with a hollow cylindrical member connected with the chamber for generating vacuum pressure, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 mounted within the housing 1 detecting presence of the staple cotton between the rollers, a motorized circular disc installed with side wall of the housing 1 via an L-shaped bar 5 and equipped with plurality of pins to rotate such that the cotton, and a weight sensor embedded within the vessel for detecting weight of the cotton."
