MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621004078 A) filed by Mohd Azmat Mohd Sohail; Mohammed Musaib Mohd Sohail; and Khadija Mohd Azmat, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, on Jan. 15, for 'cot-gel hybrid diaper.'
Inventor(s) include Mohd Azmat Mohd Sohail; Mohammed Musaib Mohd Sohail; and Khadija Mohd Azmat.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an improved hybrid reusable diaper system designed to overcome the limitations of both disposable synthetic diapers and traditional reusable cloth diapers. The invention incorporates a bamboo-cotton outer shell combined with a replaceable absorbent insert containing a Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP) gel core. Bamboo cotton is chosen due to its exceptional natural softness, antibacterial properties, breathability, and high moisture-wicking capability, making it significantly safer for prolonged infant skin contact. The hybrid system provides long-lasting dryness exceeding 12 hours while maintaining a cool, irritation-free environment. The bamboo-cotton layer quickly wicks moisture away from the baby's skin and transfers it to the gel insert, where the SAP core absorbs and locks fluids at high capacity (400-600 ml). This prevents leakage, reduces heat buildup, and greatly minimizes diaper rash. Additionally, the breathable environment improves bowel movement regularity in infants and lowers gas buildup. The reusable diaper shell lasts 1 year approx, and the low-cost SAP inserts reduce diapering expenses by nearly 90%. This invention also reduces plastic waste, making it environmentally sustainable. The system thus offers superior comfort, hygiene, performance, and eco-friendliness compared to existing diaper solutions."
