MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133970 A) filed by Dr. Mahalingam College Of Engineering And Technology, Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'cost effective, lightweight, and retrofit nvh enhancement frame for ageing fleets.'
Inventor(s) include M. Ponmurugan; Mr. M. Mahendran; and V. D. Tamilarasan.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The proposed NVH enhancement system, shown in Fig. 1, addresses the NVH challenges faced by aging buses in Indian state-operated fleets. It also comprises of Sound Blocking consisting Mass-loaded vinyl (ML V) (1 07), recycled rubber inats, (105) and bitumen-based sheets (1 08) are employed to increase the transmission loss of airborne noise. It also consists of a Sound Absorption system (109) made up ofPolywool/polyester fiber non-wovens and open-cell polyurethane foam pads (112) are used to absorb internal echoes and reduce reverberation within the passenger cabin. A decoupling technique is implemented to minimize direct noise transfer from the chassis to the passenger cabin, improving comfort. EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) weather stripping and acoustic sealants (114) are applied to eliminate leakage paths, thereby improving overall enclosure integrity."
