MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541134240 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'corrosion-resistant coating composition and the method of preparation thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Ganesan Prabusankar; Gangadharan Raju; Pragadeeswara Venkatamani Gunasekaran; Joginder Singh; Amit Agrawal; Sudipa Roy Mahapatra; Monalisa Sahoo; Adhipa Das; Samrat Kumar Bag; Bhaskar Shukla; and Koneti Nagaraju.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a corrosion-resistant coating composition and a method for preparing and applying the same for corrosion protection of metallic substrates under aggressive acidic and high-temperature environments. The boron-integrated phthalonitrile coating exhibits improved resistance to acid-induced degradation while retaining the inherent thermal stability and chemical robustness of phthalonitrile polymers. The invention provides a simple, catalyst-free, and scalable coating system suitable for corrosion protection of substrates exposed to harsh chemical and thermal conditions in industrial applications."
