Ganapathy Srinivasan; Dr. M. Selvam; Hariharan M; Lakshmana Perumal O; and Mukilan E G, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 17, for 'corrosion durability evaluation of natural fiber reinforced composite panels for marine and automotive applications.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. R. Ganapathy Srinivasan; Dr. M. Selvam; Hariharan M; Lakshmana Perumal O; and Mukilan E G.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The purpose of the present invention is to develop natural fiber reinforced composite panels with enhanced corrosion durability for use in marine and automotive applications. The invention aims to improve resistance to moisture absorption, saltwater exposure, humidity, and temperature variations by utilizing suitable natural fibers, polymer matrices, and fiber surface treatment techniques. Another purpose of the invention is to enhance fiber-matrix interfacial bonding in order to minimize degradation under corrosive environmental conditions while maintaining mechanical strength and structural integrity. Additionally, the invention seeks to provide a lightweight, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable alternative to conventional metallic and synthetic fiber composite panels for long-term service in corrosive operating environments."
