MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073634 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Sept. 30, 2024, for 'controlling ego vehicles based on response of lead object to relevant objects.'

Inventor(s) include Avjit Gupta; and Yaswanth Gopireddy.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a system (202) and method (300) for controlling ego vehicles (102) based on response of lead object (104) to relevant objects. The method (300) includes selecting a lead object (104) for an ego vehicle (102). The method (300) further includes identifying a relevant object with respect to the lead object (104), which is predicted to influence the behaviour of the lead object (104). The method also includes determining one or more predicted timing variables (TTX) for the lead object (104) to initiate manoeuvres with respect to behaviour of the relevant object. Furthermore, one or more actual TTX of the lead object (104) is determined corresponding to each of the predicted TTX. The ego vehicle (102) is controlled based on criticality of the actual TTX compared to the predicted TTX of the lead object (104)."
