MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133971 A) filed by Dr. Mahalingam College Of Engineering And Technology, Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'continuous biomass pyrolysis system using rotating reactor.'

Inventor(s) include C. Radhakrishnan; D. Shanmugam;. S. Ayyappan; and S. Shanthakumar.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention is a continuous biomass conversion system that uses controlled thermal decomposition to create syngas, biochar, and bio-oil. The system uses a horizontal rotating screw-conveyor reactor positioned horizontally to move biomass through a heated zone at a consistent rate, guaranteeing stable processing and a consistent residence time. To maintair he required pyrolysis temperature and avoid overheating, heat input is controlled by a emperature-monitoring system that modifies burner output. To maintain an oxygen-free environment and facilitate effective vapor transport, an inert-gas stream is introduced at the ~eed section. The separator facilitates the removal of the solid particles, and the hot gases enter a multitube water-cooled condenser, where the gas is transformed into a liquid calle9 [bio-oil. Gases that are not condensable are released or gathered as syngas. The integrated design makes the heat more even, makes the vapor cleaner, cuts down on fouling in the condenser, and makes the whole process of turning biomass into fuel more efficient and !reliable."
