MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541132908 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 29, 2025, for 'context-aware smart device control system.'

Inventor(s) include Sukanth K; Muhmmad Abrar R; and Harini S.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a context-aware system (100) enabling smart device management. The system (100) captures and receives real-time visual frames of a physical space encompassing IoT devices (112) and physical objects. The system (100) processes the real-time visual frames using a computer vision model to detect the IoT devices (112) and generates bounding boxes with normalized coordinates. The system (100) processes the annotated visual frames using a Vision-Language Model (VLM) and generates a spatial relationships description in natural language format. The system (100) receives natural language commands from a user with indirect spatial references using an actuation agent (106). The system (100) processes the commands using spatial descriptions and historical data, identifies target devices and corresponding actions. The system (100) transmits via a communication module (108) the device-specific control instructions implementing a publisher-subscriber communication protocol to a relay module (110) to actuate the specific IoT device."
