MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617016346 A) filed by Lenovo (SINGAPORE) Pte Limited, Singapore, on Feb. 13, for 'confidentiality and privacy protection of messages from restricted devices.'

Inventor(s) include Kunz, Andreas; and Baskaran, Sheeba Backia Mary.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Various aspects of the present disclosure relate to performing confidentiality and/or privacy protection for communications between devices, such as ambient energy-powered devices. In some cases, the loT devices and/or loT servers can perform key generation using secret parameters that are only known to the devices/servers as input into a hash function. For example, the loT server and loT device can utilize a device identifier as a secret parameter, which is input, along with a nonce, into hash operations or functions to generate security keys (e.g., a key K). In some cases, key generation can include time information or other similar information to ensure freshness of the security K during generation."

The patent application was internationally filed on Aug. 30, 2024, under International application No.PCT/IB2024/058470.
