MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511124960 A) filed by GLA University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 11, 2025, for 'compressed-air engine with infrared-driven valve actuation.'
Inventor(s) include Vijay Kumar; Harish Bhardwaj; Dr. Sachin Rana; Sandeep Kumar; Dr. Bharat Singh; Dr. Manish Saraswat; Dr. Kamal Sharma; and Satyavrat Tripathi.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A compressed-air engine is disclosed in which intake admission is coordinated to piston landmarks using optical timing. A compressed-air storage tank delivers regulated pressure through a pressure regulation module and a flow-control manifold to a solenoid intake valve coupled to a cylinder block and piston assembly, with an exhaust routing module discharging expanded air. A timing disc fixed to an output crankshaft is read by an infrared emitter-receiver sensor pair to generate edges corresponding to crank-angle landmarks. A control circuitry module applies calibrated opening and closing offsets so that the solenoid intake valve opens proximate to an outer dead center landmark and closes prior to an exhaust port opening landmark, confining expansion within the cylinder."
