MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431078073 A) filed by Tata Steel Limited, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on Oct. 15, 2024, for 'compositions and methods for direct deposition of nickel coatings on zn substrates or zn-coated substrates.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides an electroplating composition comprising nickel sulphate, nickel chloride, boric acid, and an additive for depositing a nickel coating on a Zn substrate or 5 a Zn-coated substrate. The disclosure also provides methods for preparing the electroplating compositions and a direct current method for depositing the electroplating compositions on Zn substrates or Zn coated substrates. The disclosure further provides Zn substrates or Zn-coated substrates comprising a Ni coating, where uniform and adherent Ni coatings are formed directly on the Zn substrate or Zn-coated substrate without the need for an intermediate Cu strike layer."
