MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024585 A) filed by Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on March 27, 2024, for 'composition for qualitative screening for phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms (psms).'

Inventor(s) include Sumit K. Soni; Priti Mathur; and Balvindra Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a novel composition, SPB-P, for the qualitative screening of phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms (PSMs). SPB-P offers heightened sensitivity and rapid results, turning from blue to green upon inoculation, facilitating clear visibility of positive tests. With a turnaround time of 16-24 hours, SPB-P significantly outpaces existing media, enhancing efficiency in microbial screening. It is specifically formulated for PSMs with low to moderate solubilizing activity, ensuring comprehensive and accurate assessment while minimizing false negatives. This innovation promises to revolutionize microbiological screening methods, particularly in environmental and agricultural contexts, by enabling swift and precise characterization of soil and microbial ecosystems."
