MUMBAI, India, June 16 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611054772 A) filed by Sharda University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on April 29, for 'composition for inhibiting and disrupting microbial biofilm.'
Inventor(s) include Humma Niaz Malik; Subhasree Ray; and Prasun Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on June 5, under issue no. 23/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a composition for inhibiting and disrupting microbial biofilm. The composition comprises at least one fatty acid or vegetable oil containing a fatty acid, and at least one indole derivative. Each is present in amounts ranging from 0.0005% to 0.1% (w/v). It includes combinations such as oleic acid with 5-bromoindole and Castor oil with Indole-3-butyric acid. The composition effectively inhibits and disrupts established and mature biofilms across various microorganisms, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa."
