MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202321087505 A) filed by Mansinhbhai Institute Of Dairy & Food Technology, Mehsana, Gujarat, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'composition and method for the preparation of fortified milk containing dietary fiber and encapsulated iron.'
Inventor(s) include Solanki Rohankumar; Chaudhary Krupaben; Makwana Mahesh; Khandhar Rutvik; Chavda Rajveersinh; Prajapati Dhvarkesh; Dr. Deepak Mudgil; and Dr. Sheweta Mudgil.
The application for the patent was published on June 27, under issue no. 26/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Composition and method for the preparation of fortified milk containing dietary fiber and encapsulated iron The present invention relates to the composition of fortified milk which contains soluble dietary fiber and encapsulated iron which provides upto 25% Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) value of dietary fiber and 14% of RDA value of iron to adults. Each 100 ml fortified milk contains 3 grams soluble dietary fiber, which remains suspended in the milk and doesn't settle down and 3 mg encapsulated iron, which is non-reactive and has greater bioavailability and does not alter the taste of the milk. The viscosity of the fortified milk is less than 3 cps thereby increasing the acceptability of the milk. Moreover the method for the preparation of the fortified milk is simple and easy."
