MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514091672 A) filed by Illinois Tool Works Inc., Glenview, U.S.A., on Sept. 24, 2025, for 'compliant stud retainer.'

Inventor(s) include Benoit, Thomas A.; and Barkauski, Paul D.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A stud-retention assembly for securing a fastener to a stud includes a hinged ring clip and a retainer insert. The retainer insert attaches to the stud and is captured within the hinged ring clip, which allows the insert to move slightly both 5 rotationally and linearly. This design provides compliance to accommodate misaligned studs, permits interchangeable retainer inserts for different stud sizes, and enables easy servicing or replacement without removing the clip."
