MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641001311 A) filed by Mohit Garg, Charlotte, U.S.A., on Jan. 6, for 'compliance-aware explainability and regulation-linked audit framework.'

Inventor(s) include Mohit Garg.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The current invention includes an explainability framework that is compliance and accountability focused to meet the transparency and accountability issues posed by black-box AI-based security systems. The framework functions as an additional, stand-alone, interpretative layer that records and analyses, auto-secure decisions made by opaque AI models, without the need to access the underlying models and training data. The framework preserves the high-velocity operational tuning of the AI security system by recording decisions after the fact while enabling the system. Counterfactual reasoning is employed by the framework to identify the factors that had the most impact in determining the outcomes of the AI-driven security systems. Instead of relying on abstract numerical data, this methodology focuses on practical and incremental variations (in input conditions) that could create an alternative auto-choice, isolating those elements of the model's behaviour that are causally relevant. These variables are then run through the legal domain's layer of natural language intelligence that interprets and aligns them with the Indian statutes and regulations, including data protection and cybersecurity compliance, and regulations that are specific to the relevant sector. Having pulled together the legal and technical aspects, the system subsequently auto-generates organized audit logs that are human legible, are enriched with contextual information, date and time (of audit logs creation) are organized in traceable regulatory chronology. These logs are designed to meet the benchmarks for compliance regulatory reporting, legal audit reporting, and legal documentation. The invention enables organizations to responsibly employ cutting-edge AI-driven safety mechanisms within regulated ecosystems, transforming the users of such mechanism's compliance and regulatory faith to accountable governance the ability to change diffuse AI decisions into legibly documented outcomes that are defendable in court."
