MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133980 A) filed by Dr. Mahalingam College Of Engineering And Technology, Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'compact inline micro-turbine system for energy production in agricultural irrigation pipes.'
Inventor(s) include M. Saravanakumar; L Chitra; and V. Karpagam.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "In order to generate electricity from flowing irrigation water the invention relates to a small inline turbine system designed to be integrated into agricultural water pipelines. Concurrent water transportation and energy collection are made possible by the devices low head highefficiency micro-turbine that is connected to an electric generator and housed within a modular pipeline section. With little effect on water delivery pressure this system provides_ farmers with a nearby renewable energy source to run sensors control systems and other farm equipment."
