MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511113797 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Nov. 19, 2025, for 'compact design for formulation of plastic blocks from household plastic waste.'
Inventor(s) include Navneet Kaur; Anjali; Nicole Nyashazaishe Tonde; and Deepak Tiwari.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a compact integrated machine for recycling 5 kg batches of plastic waste into reusable blocks. It combines pre-washing, rinsing/dewatering, drying, shredding, melting, and molding in a single unit, promoting sustainability without harmful emissions. The components include a SS/HDPE wash tank, centrifugal dewaterer, hot air dryer, 1 kW shredder, 2 kW melt pot with PID control, and mechanical press. The process takes 1.5-2.5 hours, addressing environmental concerns like pollution and climate change by enabling small-scale and user-friendly recycling."
