MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441067981 A) filed by Dr. Sudeep Kumar T; Dr. Prashantha S; Dr. Omkaresh B R; and Dr. Sunil B, Tumkur, Karnataka, on Sept. 9, 2024, for 'compact allen hex key set for hexagonal shaped fasteners and method of manufacturing thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Sudeep Kumar T; Dr. Prashantha S; Dr. Omkaresh B R; and Dr. Sunil B.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Conventional Allen keys can be inconvenient and inefficient. Typically sold as individual pieces or in loosely held sets, they are prone to being misplaced or lost, especially if not stored properly. This often results in unnecessary delays and frustration during projects as users search for the correct size wrench. To overcome these limitations, a novel multi-size compact hex key tool is disclosed. This innovative design and process integrate multiple commonly used hex key sizes into a single, compact unit. The tool consists of hollow, hexagonal shafts of progressively smaller sizes, stacked telescopically and pivotally connected at one end to a common Pivot ring. This assembly allows each shaft to rotate independently around the fulcrum axis, enabling users to extend the desired size as needed. The selected shaft's hexagonal tip can then be used to engage screws or bolts, providing the functionality of a traditional Allen wrench without the clutter or risk of misplacement."
