MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517046927 A) filed by Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., Guangdong, China, on May 15, for 'communication method and communication apparatus.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided in the embodiments of the present application are a communication method and a communication apparatus. The method comprises: a first communication apparatus determining whether a first remote subscriber key needs to be updated, and initiating a proximity-based service authentication request when it is determined that the first remote subscriber key is not updated; and an authentication server function network element acquiring the first remote subscriber key and a subscription permanent identifier of the first communication apparatus, and generating a first proximity-based service key when it is determined that the first communication apparatus has the permission to use a relay service, wherein the first proximity-based service key is used for a secure connection between the first communication apparatus and a second communication apparatus, so as to provide a proximity-based service. In the present application, an update mechanism for a first remote subscriber key is added, and when it is determined that the first remote subscriber key is not updated, authorization verification, which is performed by an authentication server function network element or a proximity-based service anchor point function network element on a first communication apparatus by using a proximity-based service, is newly added, such that only after the authorization verification is passed can the first remote subscriber key continue to be used, thereby improving the user experience while ensuring the secure communication of a proximity-based service control plane network."
