MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517089522 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on Sept. 19, for 'coke production method.'

Inventor(s) include Kawai Yuya; Dohi Yusuke; and Yoshioka Aya.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided is a coke production method capable of suppressing a decrease in the strength of the produced coke even when the coke is produced by using mixed coal that is mixed with a carbon material having abnormal surface tension. This method for producing coke produces coke through dry distillation of mixed coal obtained by mixing a molded article containing a plurality of brands of coal and a powder coal mixture containing a plurality of brands of powdery coal, wherein the brands and the mixing ratios of coal to be mixed in the molded article and the powdery coal mixture are determined so that the interface tension ?p of the powdery coal mixture and the interface tension ?inter of the mixed coal calculated using the surface tension of heat-treated coal obtained by heat-treating each brand of coal contained in the mixed coal and the mixing ratio of coal of each brand satisfy ?inter ?p and ?p 0.03."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 07, 2023, under International application No.PCT/JP2023/040108.
