MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531131663 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on Dec. 24, 2025, for 'cognitive radio antenna with ultra wideband and 5g fr-2 spectrum coverage.'

Inventor(s) include Mr. Aamir Shafi Khan; and Dr. Surajit Kundu.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present subject matter discloses a five port cognitive radio antenna (100) that comprises of a dual substrate platform (200, 300) supporting a plurality of radiators () for accessing the super wideband (SWB) including commercial ultra wideband (UWB) spectrum (3.1-10.6 GHz) and the 5G FR2 spectrums (24-32 GHz, n-257, n-258 and n-261) concurrently. The antenna provides both SWB (including commercial UWB) and 5G FR-2 bands concurrently making it suitable for underlay hierarchy CR applications where 5G FR-2 serves as primary user's band and commercial UWB serves as secondary user's band."
