MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511131496 A) filed by Agrsar Innovatives Private Limited, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 24, 2025, for 'chemical-free sustainable low-water process for manufacturing biodegradable containers for packaging applications.'
Inventor(s) include Pranay Kumar; and Sapna Balhara.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a chemical-free, low-water process for producing biodegradable containers of food and other regulated grades from agro-residue. Agro-residue (101) comprising lignocellulosic agricultural waste is subjected to chemical-free mechanical refining (102). The refined fibers undergo water-conservative bioprocessing (103) using not more than 30% water compared to conventional molded-fiber processes (104). The processed fibers are formed into sheets or three-dimensional container molds (105), followed by the addition of a food-grade biopolymer/natural polymer in an amount of 10-30 wt% (106). The molded articles are heat pressed at 120-160 C (107) to achieve structural stability and moisture resistance, and subsequently sterilized using physical sterilization techniques (108) to meet food-contact and regulated-grade requirements. At least 90% of solid process residue is internally recirculated (109). The process yields non-edible, biodegradable containers suitable for food, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and related regulated packaging applications (110)."
