MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517056466 A) filed by Lg Energy Solution, Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on June 12, for 'cathode active material, manufacturing method therefor, and cathode and lithium secondary battery, comprising same.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A cathode active material according to the present invention comprises: lithium nickel-based transition metal oxide particles in which the molar ratio of Ni of all transition metals is 80 mol% or more; and a coating layer formed on the surfaces of the lithium nickel-based transition metal oxide particles, wherein the lithium nickel-based transition metal oxide particles are in a single-particle form consisting of one single nodule, or a quasi-single-particle form of a composite of 30 or less nodules, the coating layer includes cobalt and aluminum, and the aluminum may be included in an amount of 0.1 mol% to 0.5 mol% with respect to 100 moles of the lithium nickel-based transition metal oxide."
