MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517123504 A) filed by Lg Energy Solution, Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Dec. 8, 2025, for 'cathode active material, cathode comprising same, and lithium secondary battery.'

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A cathode active material according to the present invention comprises: a lithium composite transition metal oxide in the form of a discrete particle composed of one single nodule or in the form of a quasi-discrete particle, which is a composite of 30 or fewer nodules; and a coating layer formed on the surface of the lithium composite transition metal oxide, wherein the coating layer includes aluminum (Al) and tungsten (W), and the cathode active material satisfies relation 1. [Relation 1] 45=X X'=56 In relation 1, X is the amount (unit: mol%) of nickel from among all the metals therein, excluding lithium, of the lithium composite transition metal oxide, and X' is the BET specific surface area (unit: m2/g) of the cathode active material."
