MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517056138 A) filed by Artedrone, Paris, on June 11, for 'catheter device for retrieving a thrombus from a vessel.'
Inventor(s) include Pouponneau, Pierre; Gendre, Baptiste; and Grimaud, Michel.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a catheter device (1) for retrieving a thrombus (T) from a vessel. The catheter device comprises a main body (15) with an internal channel (15' ) extending at least through a distal part of the main body (15). An attachment element (4) is attached or attachable to the main body (15) by a flexible line (2). The attachment element (4) further comprises a magnetic element (7) for steering and/or guiding by an external magnetic actuator and is adapted to attach to the thrombus (T) by means of a suction mechanism. The suction mechanism may include a suction hole (8) and /or a suction line (3). The suction mechanism may comprise a suction cup (6). The thrombus (T) is retrievable with the catheter device by exerting a pulling force on the attachment element (4) via the flexible line (2)."
The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 21, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/087169.
