MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521104235 A) filed by Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute Of Technology, Surat, Gujarat, on Oct. 29, for 'catalyst-free green synthesis of dithiocarbamate and rhodanine derivatives via c-s and c-n bond formation using n-substituted maleimides.'
Inventor(s) include Piyushkumar Satani; Sudha Soliya; Dr. Subrata Dutta; and Dr. Togati Naveen.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a process of one-pot annulation process for catalyst-free synthesis of dithiocarbamate and rhodanine derivatives, wherein to an oven-dried screw cap reaction tube charged with a magnetic stir-bar, N-substituted maleimide (0.25 mmol) was added. After that, MeOH: H2O (1:1) (1 mL), amine (0.25 mmol), and CS2 (1 mmol) were added. The reaction tube was closed with a screw cap and kept for vigorous stirring at room temperature for 1 h. After completion, the reaction mixture was filtered through a celite pad with ethyl acetate as the washing solvent. The ethyl acetate was evaporated under reduced pressure, and the residue obtained was purified by column chromatography using silica gel (100-200 mesh size) and petroleum-ether / ethyl acetate as the eluent."
